ASUU‘s Pending Strike Put On hold

The Academy Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced it will put on hold its plan to embark on another strike but will continue to put pressure on the Federal Government to make sure they fulfill the agreement the two parties signed.

 

Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi the Union President mentioned this while addressing newsmen at Ilorin, the Kwara State capital at a tribute in honour of late Prof. Samson Olatunde Oduleye a former member of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN).

 

ASUU President requested for prove from the Federal Government showing that the N25 billion balance released for universities is captured in 2019 budget.

 

In a tribute to the late professor, ASUU President urged UNILORIN authorities to apologise to the family of the deceased and others who were vindicated by a Supreme Court’s Judgment saying that it was enough for the institution to admit that it “acted wrongly and should own up to its wrongdoing”.

 

The event, “Day of Tributes” was attended by leaders of ASUU from various chapters across the country to honour the UNILORIN 49+.
