“Another Semester, Another Death”: Students Decry drivers’s Recklessness

Some students of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt have bemoaned the ill-fated incident that occurred during the last weekend which led to the death of 21-year-old Eno Udosen.

In a chat with Kristina Reports on WhatsApp, on Friday, June 26, 2026, a students simply addressed as Bertha said this incident occurs every Semester and sadly, nothing has been done to curb this challenge.

“Everybody is scared of walking on the road, especially in the evening because these drivers are Just so reckless on the road. I don’t even know what’s pursuing them, they don’t observe road signs and apply caution. We have lost another soul” Bertha remarks.

Another student who refused to mention his name explained that the incident is due to the laxity of the institution management to arrest the situation for a long time.

“I believe that the school management are to be blamed because this is not the first time we’re complaining about the recklessness of drivers.”

“They shouldn’t allow these fraudulent guys into the campus. Somebody has to check thoseh security officers at the main gate. Because what is this. I’m really sad.”

Earlier, a relative of the deceased, Moore Mike-Ogburia blamed the authorities of the school for failure to curb the excesses of drivers and inability to impound a car.

Mike-Ogburia urged authorities to see that those who are culpable be brought to face the extent of the law.

As at the time of this report, all efforts to reach institution’s authority were to no avail.
