Amadi Celebrates Ugorji on 36th Episcopal Consecration Anniversary

Businessman, philanthropist and Imo State governorship aspirant, Chima Amadi, has congratulated Archbishop Lucius Ugorji on the 36th anniversary of his Episcopal Consecration, celebrating his decades of service to the Catholic Church and his commitment to faith, justice and human development.

Amadi’s goodwill message was issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the day Ugorji marked 36 years since he was consecrated a Catholic bishop on July 1, 1990, following his appointment as Bishop of Umuahia by Pope John Paul II.

Amadi said, “With profound joy, I warmly felicitate with His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of his Episcopal Consecration.”

He added, “I give thanks to God for the grace that has sustained his remarkable ministry of faithful service to God and humanity, distinguished by truth, integrity, and unwavering dedication.”

Amadi further commended Ugorji’s role in promoting ethical leadership and social progress.

He said, “I deeply admire his steadfast commitment to the moral renewal of our society and his tireless efforts to promote the common good through constructive collaboration between the Church and government in advancing justice, peace, and human development.”

Praying for greater accomplishments in the years ahead, Amadi stated, “As he marks this significant milestone, I pray that Almighty God will continue to enrich him with abundant grace, sound health, and divine wisdom, so that he may continue to accomplish the Lord’s work with renewed strength and lasting impact.”

Born on January 13, 1952, in Naze, Imo State, Archbishop Lucius Ugorji was ordained a Catholic priest on April 16, 1977.

He was appointed Bishop of Umuahia on April 2, 1990, consecrated on July 1, 1990, appointed Archbishop of Owerri on March 6, 2022, and installed on June 23, 2022.

Ugorji also serves as President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria.

The anniversary drew congratulatory messages from members of the clergy, public officials and the faithful, who joined in celebrating Ugorji’s 36 years of episcopal ministry and his contributions to the growth of the Catholic Church in Nigeria.
