Achieving 5 Million Manhours Without LTIs, Result of Adherence to Safety, Health Protocols – Evomec

As the global community marks the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, Evomec Global Services Limited (EGSL) says its achievement of five million man hours without lost time injury (LTI) was a consequence of its diligent observance of safety and health protocols at all its workplaces.

A statement by the company signed by its Chief Executive Officer, High Chief Peter Esievo and made exclusively available to Kristina Reports, indicated that as at Friday, April 28, 2023, the company had yet to record any untoward situation or incident.

“We celebrate the World Safety and Health at Workplace Day 2023 as well as the importance of adhering to health, safety and environmental protocols. It is adhering to these that has seen us achieve one million hours with any issues.

“To the glory of God Almighty and the diligence of our management and staff and leadership of our Chairman/Managing Director, High Chief Peter Onajite Esievo, we have not recorded any fatality, lost time injury or accident in the course of achieving these five million man hours.”

According to Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) World Report, man hours are recorded when there is no lost time incident or injury, with particular focus on Fatality Case (Fatal), Lost Workday Case (LWC), Restricted Workday Case (RWC), Medical Treatment Case (MTC), First Aid Case (FAC), Property Damage (PD), Near Miss (NM), Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA), Fire Incident (FI), or Environmental Incident (EI).

The statement noted that compliance with health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements have been emplaced and are been complied with at all the company’s operational environments, stressing that “our distinguished clients and stakeholders can be assured of our penchant for regulatory compliance at our workplaces”.

It urged other corporate entities to align with the global convergence on making the workplace safe, noting that this year’s theme, “A safe and healthy working environment as a fundamental principle and right at work”, which emphasizes the significance of workplace safety and health as an essential principle and right for workers aligns with the company’s corporate stance.

“We will continue to adhere with principles, rules and protocols that enhances the integrity of the workplace, assures the wellbeing of workers, and deepens the prospects of improved productivity at our workplaces. This remains our inalienable corporate policy thrust.”

The World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which significance is etched in achieving a conducive work environment and occupational safety and health, is observed on April 28 every year and is related to the International Workers’ Day, otherwise known as Labour Day.
