Kelechi Iheanacho Extends Bursaspor Scoring Record to Ten Games in 3-0 Demolition of Muğlaspor

Kelechi Iheanacho’s sensational start to life in Turkey has reached historical proportions. Returning fresh from international duty, the 30-year-old Nigerian forward delivered a masterclass performance—scoring a brace and providing an assist—to lead Bursaspor to a commanding 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor at the Muğla Atatürk Stadium on Friday evening.

The win provided the perfect response for Bursaspor in the Turkish TFF First League, allowing them to bounce back immediately following a painful 2-1 defeat to Mardin 1969 Spor in their previous fixture.

With his two-goal display against Muğlaspor, Iheanacho has achieved what no player before him in professional Turkish football history ever has: finding the net in all 10 of his opening matches for a club.

By scoring in 10 consecutive league games, the Super Eagles striker officially surpassed the long-standing 9-match scoring streak record previously co-held by Süper Lig legends Metin Oktay (Galatasaray, 1962–1963) and Saffet Sancaklı (Kocaelispor, 1995–1996).

Iheanacho’s double also brought his goal count for Bursaspor to 14 goals, officially eclipsing his best single-season league tally of 12 goals recorded during his spell with Leicester City in the English Premier League.

Bursaspor dominated the tempo at the Muğla Atatürk Stadium, driven by Iheanacho’s relentless movement upfront.

51st Minute: Iheanacho thought he had broken the deadlock early in the second half, but his effort was ruled out following an offside decision.

58th Minute (0–1): The Nigerian made no mistake seven minutes later, latching onto a well-timed pass from Halil Akbunar to slot home the opening goal.

79th Minute (0–2): Iheanacho doubled Bursaspor’s lead late in the half, finishing off a brilliant team sequence orchestrated by Juergen Elitim.

83rd Minute (0–3): Turning provider, Iheanacho set up teammate Hüseyin Maldar to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Following a Man of the Match performance in which he directly contributed to all three goals, Iheanacho was substituted in the 84th minute for Baran Başyiğit to a standing ovation.

Since returning from the international break, Iheanacho has bagged three goals and one assist across just two appearances.

In total, his overall numbers for Bursaspor stand at an astonishing 14 goals and 3 assists (17 direct goal contributions) in 10 matches.

Bursaspor will look to build on this momentum in their next fixture as Iheanacho aims to extend his historic scoring streak even further.
