Mustapha Isah wins La Louvière award after explosive Belgian Pro League scoring start
Nigerian star Mustapha Isah has clinched the Wolf of the Month award for August following an explosive start to life with RAAL La Louvière in the Belgian Pro League.
The 22-year-old winger hit the ground running in his debut month, finding the net in three of his four appearances.
Yet, his individual brilliance came amid a frustrating team run. Despite his clinical form, Les Loups (The Wolves) managed just a single point from four matches following three consecutive defeats.
It paints a bizarre picture of his early dynamic: the goals were flowing, but victory proved elusive. Nevertheless, his relentless drive on the pitch made him an undisputed standout.
Isah opened his account on day one, slotting home the opener in a narrow 2-1 defeat to Anderlecht.
He repeated the feat the following week, scoring first before his side fell 2-1 to Gent.
After a silent Matchday 3 during a 2-0 loss against Standard Liège, the Nigerian attacker bounced back immediately, netting again in a dramatic 2-2 draw with KV Mechelen.
Reflecting on the honor, the former Kristiansund BK forward expressed his gratitude and hungry mindset for the rest of the campaign.
“I’m happy to get the best player of the month in La Louvière and hopefully I’m going to score a lot of goals—more to come in the games that are coming,” Isah stated.
The attacker recently completed a permanent transfer to the Belgian outfit after previous spells in Denmark and Norway, committing his future to the club on a three-year deal with an option for an additional year.
