Abia Airport Will Create a Regional Economic Hub – Ikpeazu

The proposed international airport to be built by the Abia State Government will boost economic activities across the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones, thus creating a thriving economic hub that will benefit the country as a whole.

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu said added to that it will also open up more developmental channels and enhance inter-state relations across State in the region.

Ikpeazu said this when he received, in audience, the Abia Airport Project Team led by its Chairman and President, Eskom Plc, Philip Orjiako in his office in Umuahia today.

Ikpeazu, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Anthony Agbazuere, disclosed that his administration was very passionate in realizing its first ever Airport that would be of international standard, stated that the new proposed Abia Airport was very dear to the State.

The Governor described the Abia Airport Project Team as “the best hands for the project”, urged them to redouble their efforts and show more commitment towards realizing the project in record time, assuring the team of his administration’s support as well as adequate security throughout the duration of the project.

The State Chief Executive expressed optimism of performing the ground breaking ceremony for the state airport next month to enable the project team realize the project before the expiration of this administration in the State.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Abia Airport Project Team and President, Eskom PLC, Philips Orjiako had commended the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration in the State for sticking to its own part of the agreement.

Orjiako promised the State Chief Executive that his team would utilize every machinery at its disposal to realize the Abia Airport with international standards.
