Olomu-Ogbogbo Chairman Says Okrika-Borikiri Link Bridge Will Bring Peace, Vows “Zero Compromise” On Security

The Chairman of Olomu-Ogbogbo Community in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, Asitonka John-Dala, says the ongoing Okrika-Borikiri Link Bridge will foster peace and enhance commuting in the area when completed.

John-Dala, who said this on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 in an interview with Kristina Reports at the project site in his community, expressed optimism that the road will engender faster development in the community, while residents will be able to travel to and from Okrika in just 30 minutes.

“We the Okrika people are very happy. Because it will bring peace to our community. It will bring development to our community.”

“You can even stroll down to Okrika and stroll down to Borikiri. 30 minutes, you will reach Okrika” he said.

He expressed the appreciation of his community to the Executive Director, Finance and Administration in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Boma Iyaye, the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Kingdom, His Royal Highness, King Michael Ateke Tom, and the entire chiefs of Okrika Kingdom for their efforts at ensuring the project commenced.

Describing the project as a major step towards fostering unity and brotherliness between Okrika and Borokiri, John-Dala assured that concerns about security around the project would be addressed properly, while giving a firm assurance that both the contractor’s staff and equipment would be protected.

“You know, Okrika man don’t like lack of security. So, as far as we are concerned, nobody will come and do nonsense here. Because this project…if you do nonsense, you will see me out. I swear. We don’t compromise.”

In various interviews with Kristina Reports, community leaders in the area said they are optimistic that the project will boost trade and relations between Port Harcourt LGA and Okrika LGA when completed.
