Paul Mukairu Scores Match-Winning Goal as Nigerian Star Powers Pogoń Szczecin to 10-Man Victory
Nigerian forward Paul Mukairu has kicked off his preparation for the 2026–27 campaign on a high note.
The talented winger stepped up to score a dramatic match-winning goal, leading 10-man Pogoń Szczecin to a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Chrobry Głogów on Wednesday evening.
10-Man Pogoń Szczecin Overcomes Red Card Drama
The Ekstraklasa side started bright and broke the deadlock in the 38th minute when Kellyn Acosta finished confidently.
However, the game turned on its head just four minutes later when Acosta received a straight red card, leaving Pogoń a man down.
Chrobry Głogów quickly capitalised on the advantage. Kelechukwu Ebenezer Ibe-Torti struck an equaliser in the 44th minute, sending both teams into the halftime break deadlocked at 1-1.
Paul Mukairu Sets Sights on Big Ekstraklasa Campaign
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Pogoń showed incredible resilience after the restart. In the 70th minute, Paul Mukairu found the back of the net, scoring what proved to be the decisive goal.
Chrobry pushed hard in the final minutes, but Pogoń’s defense held firm to seal the impressive victory.
Mukairu joined the Polish side on July 2, 2025, from FC Copenhagen. He enjoyed a stellar debut season, racking up 8 goals in 34 league appearances to become one of the club’s standout performers.
The 26-year-old former Anderlecht and Reading winger is now primed to surpass that tally as he heads into his second year in Poland.
