The statement said officers intercepted a vehicle at the Red Cross Junction along Azikiwe Road and, during a thorough search, discovered a Browning pistol hidden inside a loaf of bread belonging to one Braya Nanas, a resident of New Road, Borikiri, who was travelling as a passenger.

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that the pistol had no visible serial number. The suspect allegedly admitted ownership of the firearm and told investigators he purchased it in Okrika for ₦800,000.

The Commissioner of Police described the concealment of the weapon as an indication of the increasingly deceptive methods used by criminal elements to evade security checks.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious persons and activities to the police, and avoid accepting or transporting packages whose contents are unknown.

The command also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting law enforcement through timely and credible intelligence to enhance security across Rivers State.
