The Lagos-based side stunned the Solid Babes at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, producing a spirited performance to revive their campaign in the NWFL Super Six Matchday Three clash.

FC Robo Queens Dominate Early but Struggle to Break Through

FC Robo Queens came into the encounter on the back of consecutive defeats — a 3-2 loss to Rivers Angels in their opening match and a 4-1 defeat to Edo Queens on Matchday Two.

Nasarawa Amazons, meanwhile, arrived with a perfect record after winning their first two fixtures and were aiming to maintain their unbeaten start.

Robo nearly took the lead when Adegbuyi Kemi was released on a counterattack. Nasarawa goalkeeper Unachukwu Udoka rushed off her line but slipped, giving Kemi the chance to attempt a lob. However, her effort struck the left upright and bounced out for a goal kick.

Two minutes later, Kemi found herself in a similar situation, but this time her chipped effort was cleared away by a recovering Nasarawa defender.

The forward continued to trouble the Amazons’ defence and almost broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area. Udoka reacted brilliantly to make a crucial save.

Robo kept up the pressure and came close again four minutes later. Onyenezide Esther’s corner kick found Kemi, whose towering header was heading goalward before Udoka stretched to keep it out.

Despite Robo Queens’ dominance and several chances, the first half ended goalless.

Opeyemi Ajakaye and Adegbuyi Kemi Deliver the Decisive Blow

The breakthrough finally arrived just before the hour mark following a costly defensive mix-up by Nasarawa Amazons.

A failed clearance between the defenders and goalkeeper allowed Opeyemi Ajakaye to pounce on the loose ball. Showing determination and composure, she chased it down before calmly slotting into an empty net to give FC Robo Queens a deserved lead.

Five minutes later, Ajakaye was involved again as Robo launched another dangerous counterattack. This time, she unselfishly squared the ball to Adegbuyi Kemi, who made no mistake in finishing to double her side’s advantage.

The second goal effectively put Robo Queens in complete control and left Nasarawa Amazons with a mountain to climb.

Robo nearly added a third goal when Ajakaye produced an excellent lob from the right flank. Udoka managed to get a fingertip to the effort, pushing it onto the woodwork. The rebound fell kindly to Kemi, but she was unable to convert.

In the closing stages, Onyenezide Esther almost crowned a fine display with a stunning free kick, only to see her effort crash against the woodwork.

Nasarawa Amazons also came close to pulling one back in the 90th minute when Okoroafor Deborah unleashed a powerful strike from inside the penalty area, but her effort also struck the woodwork.

The final whistle confirmed a deserved 2-0 victory for FC Robo Queens, ending their losing streak and breathing fresh life into their NWFL Super Six campaign.
