The decision to take the Super Six to Port Harcourt marks another significant moment for women’s football in Nigeria.

Announcing the host city, NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Modupe Shabi, said:

“The Rivers State Government has consistently demonstrated strong support for women’s football and successfully hosted our Annual General Assembly last October. We are excited to return with our flagship competition as part of our commitment to expanding elite women’s football across Nigeria.”

The choice of Port Harcourt reflects the league’s efforts to take top-level women’s football to different parts of the country while rewarding regions that continue to support the growth of the women’s game.

Which Teams Qualified for the Super Six?

The Super Six will feature the top three teams from both groups of the regular season, with each club playing five matches in a round-robin format.

The six clubs that secured qualification are:

  • Bayelsa Queens
  • Edo Queens
  • Rivers Angels
  • Robo Queens
  • Nasarawa Amazons
  • Abia Angels

Defending champions Bayelsa Queens will be aiming to retain their crown, while Rivers Angels will hope to make home advantage count in Port Harcourt.

Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and Robo Queens also enter the tournament with strong ambitions, while Abia Angels prepare for their first-ever appearance at the championship playoffs.

CAF Women’s Champions League Spot Up for Grabs

Beyond the league trophy, the Super Six carries major continental importance.

The tournament will determine Nigeria’s representative at the WAFU-B qualifiers, which serve as the pathway to the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
