In a public notice issued on Thursday May 21, 2026, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, stated that voting will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

According to the Commission, the exercise will be conducted across 88 Registration Areas (wards) and 1,629 polling units spread across seven local government areas in the senatorial district.
The affected LGAs are Andoni, Opobo/Nkoro, Eleme, Tai, Oyigbo, Khana and Gokana.
The By-election became necessary to fill the vacant seat in the house following the death of Sen. Barinaadaa Mpigi who represented the senatorial district.
