Andoni Free Skills Acquisition Programme Not Politically Motivated-Mobene

A politician from Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Luke Mobene, has dismissed claims that the ongoing Andoni Free Skills Acquisition Programme is a political tool designed to attract sympathy or gain political advantage.

Mobene made the clarification via a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday, May 24, 2026 describing the allegations as unfounded propaganda aimed at discrediting a genuine initiative targeted at youth empowerment and self-reliance.

He explained that the programme was established out of a personal commitment to impact lives by equipping young people with practical skills needed to navigate Nigeria’s challenging economic realities.

“This programme is here to stay. It has absolutely nothing to do with politics or political manipulation. It is a life I have chosen, one dedicated to empowering the younger generation with the tools and knowledge to build a better future,” he stated.

Mobene noted that the initiative is focused on creating opportunities for youths who possess talent but lack the necessary support and exposure to succeed.

According to him, the first phase of the programme has been successfully completed, with over 50 beneficiaries trained in various skills aimed at fostering self-reliance and productivity.

He expressed optimism that participants would utilise the knowledge gained to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to society.

The Andoni politician further revealed that plans are underway for the second phase of the programme, with a commitment to expand its reach and impact across more communities.

While acknowledging that holding political office could provide greater resources to scale the initiative, Mobene maintained that the current programme remains sincere and devoid of political motives.

He also called on members of the public to refrain from making statements that could discourage individuals genuinely investing in youth development.

“As human beings, people are entitled to their opinions, but such opinions should not undermine efforts aimed at building the next generation,” he added.

Mobene reaffirmed his resolve to sustain the initiative regardless of his political status, emphasising his commitment to empowering youths and contributing positively to society.
