INEC Begins Third Phase of Continuous Voter Registration in Rivers

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday May 5th 2026 by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Johnson Alalibo, the exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 11th, 2026, and will run daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The registration will take place at all INEC offices across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state. The Commission also disclosed that the exercise will be extended to Registration Areas (wards) on a rotational basis to ensure wider coverage.

Johnson Alalibo stated that the exercise, which is expected to end on July 10, 2026, is designed to provide an opportunity for eligible citizens who are yet to register, as well as those who wish to transfer or update their voter information, to do so.

The Commission called on all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and the general public, to support the process to ensure a smooth and peaceful electoral exercise.

INEC reiterated its commitment to strengthening democratic participation through an inclusive and credible voter registration process.
