The Super Falcons star first made her mark by setting up the equaliser early in the second half, showing composure and vision to bring her side back into the game.

With momentum swinging in Toronto’s favour, she stepped up again 11 minutes later to score the winning goal, capping a dominant second-half display.

Her influence stretched across 84 minutes before she was substituted for Kaila Novak, having already done enough to secure all three points for her side.

The match itself lived up to expectations, as both teams—last season’s finalists—renewed their rivalry in an entertaining opener.

AFC Toronto struck first inside eight minutes through Zoe Burns, who finished off a well-worked move created by Sarah Stratigakis.

Vancouver responded quickly, with Camila Reyes levelling the score before Latifah Abdu gave the hosts a 2-1 lead just before halftime.

After the break, Toronto found another gear. Stratigakis turned scorer in the 61st minute, finishing from Okoronkwo’s assist to restore parity.

From there, the visitors pressed forward with intent, and Okoronkwo’s clinical finish sealed a hard-earned comeback win.

However, Okoronkwo has consistently proven to be a difference-maker in this fixture, now boasting four goal contributions against Vancouver.

The 29-year-old is also building on an impressive debut campaign, where she recorded 11 goals and eight assists in 29 appearances.

Having recently extended her contract until 2027, she appears determined to raise that bar even higher this season.

With such a commanding start, Okoronkwo has once again displayed her importance to AFC Toronto—and set the tone for what could be another standout year.
