Police Arrests 12 in Connection with Alleged Unity Estate OCPAC Led Attack
The Nigeria Police Force has yet made another significant stride in its combat against crime after arresting 12 persons in connection with an attack on Unity Estate in Mbodo-Aluu, Port Harcourt.
Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, January 6, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

She disclosed that the incident occurred on Monday, January 5, 2025 at about 1:15pm when members of OSPAC vigilante group from various communities in Obio/Akpor LG together with some thugs armed with different weapons allegedly invaded the estate causing panic and unrest.
She added that investigations have exposed two men, Patrick Akandu and Omakwelem Onu to be the masterminds of the attack and are currently on the run.
She further mentioned that the attack led to destruction of parts of the Estate, damages of properties.
Consequently, one Stephen Nmacha, sustained a gunshot injury and was abducted, some others sustained different degrees of injuries and fled to nearby bushes for safety.
Operatives of the China Division swiftly mobilised and we’re supported by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Octopus Tactical Teams. The victim, Stephen was rescued and taken to a medical facility for treatment.
According to the statement, exhibits recovered from the suspects include: one (1) automatic pump-action gun, one (1) live cartridge, expended cartridges, assorted charms, five (5) motorcycles, two (2) mini-buses, and one (1) Toyota Siena van
The twelve (12) suspects arrested are: Chinedu Nnodim, 45, male, Etche LGA, Rivers State; Joel Wopara, 49, male, Rukpokwu, Rivers State; Wopara Iyke, 45, male, Rumuewara, Oraigwe, Rivers State; Henry Orumere, 44, male, Anaka Abuja Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Chidi Herbert, 47, male, Ehi Water, Rumuodumanya, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; and Wobe Ginikanwa, 44, male, Airport Road, Rukpokwu, Rivers State.
Others are Bright Ezekiel, 51, male, Ezekiel Road, Nkpolu, Rumuigbo, Rivers State; Ibuchi Wali Ogba, 42, male, Rumuwokeata, Ogbogoro, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; Okechukwu Igwe, 54, male, Airport Road, Rumuodumanya, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; John Chukwudi, 56, male, Rumuchi Road, Ozuoba, Rivers State; Chi Ezekwu, 43, male, Ezekwu Avenue, Port Harcourt, Rivers State; and Clement Bassey, 32, male, Omachi, Rumuodumanya, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Akpor OSPAC Commander, Azubuike, aka Ocean, who is said to have led the attack, is currently at large.
She further added that the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has strongly condemned the reckless and reprehensible actions of the OSPAC operatives for taking the law into their hands.
He reiterated that OSPAC operatives are expected to operate strictly under the supervision of the Police and in synergy with the Command, assuring the residents of Rivers State of their safety.
“Concerted efforts are ongoing to apprehend all remaining suspects involved in the attack to ensure they face the full weight of the law.”
“The Police will not tolerate any individual or group, under any guise, disrupting the peace and security of the State.”
She further advised members of the public with credible information that could aid the arrest of the fleeing suspects are urged to come forward and assist the Police or report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
