After Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, Bodo-Bonny Road Closed as Construction Work Resumes

The Bodo-Bonny Road that was opened to commuters temporarily during the diamond jubilee celebration of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom will be closed to traffic starting from Sunday, June 15, 2025, the King Perekule Palace has announced.

Secretary of the King Perekule Palace, Amaopusenibo Festus Pepple disclosed this to Kristina Reports on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Bonny, Rivers State.

“The idea of opening the road was to facilitate easy access for friends and well-wishers of the monarch and Bonny Kingdom to share in the joys of the celebration but we’re done with that now.”

“So, effective Sunday, June 15, 2025, the road will be closed back for construction work to resume so that the company, Julius Berger can meet up with agreed timelines for the road project.”

“We thank the Honourable Minister of Works and Julius Berger Plc for their magnanimity and support in grating us the request which has made our King’s birthday celebration a memorable one.”

The temporary opening and controlled access on the Bodo-Bonny Road saw to the ingress of several high profile guests who visited Bonny to celebrate with the King on his diamond jubilee birthday.

These high profile guests include the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, politicians, captains of industry, traditional rulers and people from all walks of life.
