The family of Musa Yahuza, a transporter, has called on the Minister of Defence, service chiefs, the Media, Judiciary, and government at all levels to intervene in his prolonged detention by security operatives.
Yahuza, who was arrested on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 by operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), has not been seen or heard from since, leading to growing concerns about his welfare.
His elder brother, Abdu Yahuza, spoke to Kristina Reports of the family’s deep distress, noting that Musa’s wife and children are in constant anguish.
“My younger brother was arrested, and since then, we’ve not heard or seen him. His wife and children are always crying, asking about him, and nobody has been able to tell us where he is.”
He pleaded with the authorities to allow them to at least hear from Musa or see him to know if he is alive or dead.
Musa Yahuza’s lawyer, Sydney Iwo, provided a detailed account of the events leading to his client’s arrest.
According to Iwo, Musa’s truck, which was transporting oil from Port Harcourt to the North, was seized by operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) under Operation Delta Safe (OPDS).
Iwo noted that Musa insisted on testing the oil to confirm it was not crude oil, but the military operatives demanded a N2 million bribe, which Musa refused. They then allegedly dismantled and sold parts of his truck before burning it up.
He, therefore, called on the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hassan Abubakar, Director General, Departmnt of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi, and Commander, Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Rear Adm. John Okeke, to intervene in the matter and save the life of his client.
