Chidimma Adetshina, the former Miss South Africa contestant with a rich cultural heritage, is now gearing up for a new challenge.
With a Nigerian father and Mozambican mother, Chidimma, who was born and raised in South Africa, has accepted an invitation to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
Chidimma initially faced controversy during her Miss South Africa stint, with some questioning her South African identity due to her name.
This led to her withdrawal from the competition amid allegations of fraud and identity theft by her mother, as noted by the South African Home Office.
Over the weekend, Mia le Roux, a deaf South African, was crowned Miss South Africa, while Chidimma’s new journey began.
The Silverbird Group, organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, extended an invitation to Chidimma, which she eagerly accepted.
In a heartfelt video shared on social media with Ben Bruce Murray, head of the Silverbird Group, Chidimma expressed her gratitude and excitement:
“I can’t start off this video without expressing my gratitude to the people who have shown me incredible love and support,” Chidimma said.
“I have received an invitation from the Silverbird Group, the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant. I am thrilled to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant and look forward to this prestigious journey.”
