Mauricio Pochettino has parted ways with Chelsea FC less than 11 months after taking charge of the London side. Pochettino guided Chelsea to a sixth-place finish and enjoyed a strong end to the Premier League campaign.

The Argentine left the English outfit by mutual consent after meeting with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, and co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali over two days.

Directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley stated, “On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we’d like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He’ll be welcome back to Stamford Bridge anytime and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”

Mauricio Pochettino agreed to his departure with Chelsea late on Tuesday morning, following the club’s end-of-season review that started on Monday.

In a statement, Pochettino said, “Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The Club is now well-positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Pochettino was the club’s sixth permanent manager in five years. Chelsea will now prioritize considering a young manager to replace him.
