The Dan-Jumbo Chieftaincy House of Bonny Kingdom in Rivers State has installed Clinton Ibiwari Gibson Dan-Jumbo as its Chief and Head amidst fanfare and jubilations.
With the capping ceremony done on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Dan-Jumbo Isile-Ogono, homestead of the Dan-Jumbo House, Wari-Alabo Clinton Ibiwari Gibson Dan-Jumbo becomes Jene IV, being the fourth Chief and Head of the House after the founder and first Chief and Head, Jene Dan-Jumbo.
The progenitor of the House, Ada Jene, as he was fondly called, was installed in 1875 and led the House until his transition to the great beyond in 1909.
The most senior elder of the House, Warisenibo Cyril Dan-Jumbo, a retired naval officer, assisted by other elders of the House; Wari-Alapu Golden Dan-Jumbo, Henry Dan-Jumbo, and Emmanuel Dan-Jumbo, capped the new Chief as seven canon shots were fired to announce the installation of Jene VI in Dan-Jumbo Community in Bonny LGA of Rivers State.
The Vice Chairman, Secretary and Chief in-charge of Protocol and Chieftaincy Matters in the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), Se-Alabo Hanniel Jack-Wilson Pepple, Se-Alabo Charles John-Jumbo, and Se-Alabo Golden Christy-Wilcox, respectively, witnessed the installation ceremony.
In his charge to the new Chief and Head of the Dan-Jumbo House, Se-Alabo Jack-Wilson Pepple commended the House for the unity of purpose displayed, noting that the installation of the new chief did not witness any form of rancour, assuring of the support of the Chiefs Council.
In acceptance speech, the new Chief and Head of the Dan-Jumbo House, Wari-Alabo Clinton Dan-Jumbo thanked the Bonny Chiefs Council for its support throughout the process of preparing for the ceremony, as well as members of the House for their sustained support in the trying days of the House.
In a chat with Kristina Reports, younger brother of the new Chief, Fubara Dan-Jumbo, PhD, gave all glory to God Almighty for the success of the installation ceremony, noting that though there were challenges along the way, “with God’s support, we overcame”.
The women of the Dan-Jumbo House, traditionally known as Jene Wari Ere rendered traditional songs to commemorate the day, just as the youths of the community ensured that everything went smoothly.
