LG Chairman, Isaka Community Applaud Nigerian Navy for Donating Safety Vests

The aborigines of Isaka Community in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State have commended the Nigerian Navy Shipyard Limited, Port Harcourt for the provision of 100 branded safety vest to the community.

Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (GMD/CEO) of the Naval Shipyard Limited (NSL), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Rear Admiral Hamza Kaoje, who was accompanied by the Admiral Superintendent of NSL, Rear Admiral Nanle Damtong, had presented the life jackets to elders of the Community.

In a chat with Kristina Reports, one of the indigenes, who pleaded anonymity that he was not authorized to speak on the matter, said the development is a welcome one as it will help to ensure the safety of travelers.

“We are a small fishing settlement without road, and the waterways are the only means of transport, these vest will help, especially, those who are hydrophobic”

Speaking also, one of the boat drivers, who did not want to disclose his identity, said it’s a good thing that they are not left out in the development ongoing in Okrika.

“As e b say we dey very far from the place wey things dey happen, e good say dem no forget us kpatakpata, atleast them don give us something make we take hold ourselves.”

He, however, beckoned on the authorities of the community to emulate the good deeds and do same.

“All the people wey we put as councilors and the rest of them, I believe say dem dey see am with their eye, make dem follow dey do better thing, this place fit better pass as e dey, if only dem go dey reason our matter.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Okrika LGA, Akuro Tobin has also thanked the Nigerian Navy for ensuring good social corporate responsibility with their host community, Isaka, noting that the steps taken is in tandem with the local government’s mandate of protecting lives and properties of its people.

Represented during the presentation of the items by the Secretary to the Okrika Local Government Council, Oforiokuma Kwani, the Okrika LGA boss enjoined the people of Isaka Community to make judicious use of the safety vests for the safety while traveling.
