Leicester City paid a visit to Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium on matchday six of the EFL Championships and handed out a 1-4 beating to the home side, with Wilfred Ndidi scoring the third goal.
Jamie Vardy opened scoring for the Foxes in the first minute to usher in three more goals and ultimately the victory.
21-year-old Kasey McAteer then doubled the lead in the 18th minute with his third goal of the season, before Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi beat his marker to worsen things for the Saints as he tripled the lead right before the stroke of the half.
Stephy Mavididi soon put the icing on the cake through a very fast counter-attack and got his goal after setting up Ndidi for the third, to increase the deficit and make it four for the Foxes.
Wilfred Ndidi has now scored three goals in the season so far with his goal against Burton Albion in the first round of the EFL Cup being nominated for Leicester City’s goal of the month for August. Kelechi Iheanacho’s goal vs. Burton Albion was also nominated.
Wilfred Ndidi and Leicester City are currently first on the table with 15 points from six games.
