Wike appoints ex-Minister as SSG, retains Chief of Staff

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has repeated his first term feat of appointing a former Minister of the Federal Republic, Tammy Dangogo, as Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In his first tenure, he appointed Kenneth Kobani, who served as Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment under former President Goodluck Jonathan administration. 

A statement by Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, revealed that Wike approved the appointment of Dr Tammy Danagogo as the new Secretary to the State Government.

Dr Tammy Danagogo, an erudite scholar, who hold a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, and served as Minister of Sports in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, comes with legendary wealth of experience as a grassroots politician, seasoned administrator and acclaimed technocrat.

He had earlier served as Commissioner for Urban Development and later Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs in Rivers State under Chibuike Amaechi’s administration as Governor.

Danagogo was also an Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area between 2004 and 2007 and later lectured in the Faculty of Law at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt from 2007 to 2008.

Wike also approved the appointment of Chukwuemeka Woke as the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt.

Woke, who was a former Executive Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, served as Wike’s Chief of Staff in his first tenure.

The statement by Special Assistant to Wike on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, said the two officials will be sworn in at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt by 2pm on Monday.
