The Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) has given thumbs up to the Governors of the five South-East States for their sterling performance and congratulated them on their victory at the just concluded 2019 polls.
The Governors include outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okrocha, his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, and re-elected Governors of Ebonyi, Dave Umahi, Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Abia State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, as well as Anambra State Governor, Willy Obiano.
The group while commending them for the patriotism and passion to develop their fatherland, advised them to prioritize the interest of the geopolitical zone with a view to transforming it into an economically viable region in the country.
The OYC, in a statement signed by it’s Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike, and the Deputy National President, Obinna Achuonye, attributed their election and re-elections to their remarkable achievements in office.
“A new dawn beckons in the South East zone with the re-election of these governors, who have engraved their names in records of performance. We salute them for living up to the promises made to the residents of their states, which had translated to their electoral victories”.
The statement buttressed that the essence of the message to the Governors was to urge them to work harmoniously for the people who voted them into power, adding that it was time to optimize the economic value of the South-East for the benefit of the people and for a more vibrant South-East Governors’ Forum.
He reiterated the need for the Enugu State Government to harness the crude oil deposit in various communities in the State such as Uwani, Oji River, Uzo, Isi Uzo, and the rest, which have the capacity to boost the State’s revenue, increase job creation and other economic development for the people.
He called on the Governors to lead by example by acting speedily on the National Minimum Wage by making it a reality, while calling on those who lost out in the election to work with the Governors for the benefit of a united zone.
