NDLEA, Navy Deepen Synergy in War Against Drug Abuse

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigerian Navy have reiterated their collaboration to jointly levy war against the menace of drug abuse in the society.

This joint resolve was stated by the State Commander, NDLEA, Rivers State Command, Ahmed Mamuda, and the Commandant, Nigerian Navy Intelligence School (NNIS), Ubima, Rivers State, Commodore Rafiu Taye Oladejo, when the latter paid the former a courtesy visit on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at the NDLEA Rivers State Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

Cdre Oladejo, who recently assumed duty at the Nigerian Navy Intelligence School, stated that the visit was aimed at familiarizing himself with the Command and to cement the already existing cordial relationship between both organisations.

He further expressed gladness for the warm reception and extended an open door to the Agency for exchange of relevant training needs, stressing that the war against drug abuse was a collective one requiring all relevant stakeholders to be on board.

In his response, the NDLEA State Commander heartily welcomed the NNIS Commandant, stating that the relationship between both organisations cannot be overemphasized considering the strategic place intelligence sharing has in NDLEA operations.

He expressed delight over the open door extended to his agency, assuring that the Command under his watch “will not hesitate to bring the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization vision of the vibrant Chairman/ Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Brig. Gen. MB Marwa (Rtd.), to the School.

Highpoint of the visit was the decoration of the NNIS Commandant as a WADA Ambassador and also presentation of a copy of “NDLEA Today” Magazine to his esteemed guest by the NDLEA State Commander. Reciprocating the gesture, Cdre Oladejo also presented the CN Mamuda with a plaque to serve as an appreciation and a reminder of his visit.

Meanwhile, the Assistant State Commander, Drug Demand Reduction Unit of the NDLEA, Rivers State Command, Stella-Maris Amede, CSN, had on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, presented a lecture on “Drug Abuse, Trafficking, Consequences, and Prevention” to the Regional Manager, Management and Staff of UPS Couriers warehouses at the GRA axis of Port Harcourt, as part of the ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) Enlightenment Programme.
