48 Hours After, Bonny LGA Election Results Not Yet on INEC Results Portal

It’s about 48 hours after the presidential election was concluded in Bonny Local Government of Rivers State, the results are yet to be posted on the results viewing portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), IREV.

Checks by Kristina Reports on the IREV portal at precisely 12.33AM on Monday, February 27, 2023 showed “NO RESULTS YET”.

Reports from Kristina Reports Correspondents who were at different polling units across Bonny LGA indicate that results announced by INEC officials at the various polling units put the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi in clear lead, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailing behind from a distance.

Also result sheets sighted by Kristina Reports corroborate this projection as various units across the 12 wards returned higher votes in favour of Labour Party.

Concerns were however being raised that the delay might not be unconnected with allegations of vote manipulation by certain politicians in collusion with INEC officials.

A knowledgeable source within INEC, who preferred anonymity, alleged that the failure to upload the results from the polling units was a deliberate attempt to delay the process to allow for doctoring of the results to favour certain interested politicians.

Kristina Reports could not get the reaction of INEC on this allegation as no official of INEC was seen at its office in Bonny when Kristina Reports visited.

Also, enquiries about these allegations sent by Kristina Reports to the Electoral Officer of Bonny LGA, Leo Okon, and the Head, Voter Education and Publicity in INEC Rivers State, Mark Usulor were not responded to as at the time of this report.

It was unclear what the reason is for the delay in uploading the results 48 hours after the process was concluded.
