One master shot taken by Samuel Fubaraibi Jumbo at the Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta not only popularized the event but effectively sold the amazing tourism potentials of Bonny Island to the global community, Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox has said.

Claude-Wilcox said this on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 when she hosted the celebrated photographer and his mother, Mrs. Doris Fubaraibi Jumbo at the Government Lodge, Bonny, Rivers State.

Jumbo is the Chief Executive Officer of Opus Photographee, a photography firm based in Bonny, Rivers State.

Commending him for his commitment to excellence in his chosen profession, the Bonny LG Council boss urged him to keep the flag flying, assuring him of the continuous support of her administration towards him and other creatives in Bonny LGA.

The master shot by Jumbo caused social media buzz and sensation, thriving across various virtual platforms to the admiration of many shortly after the Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta competition in December, 2023.

As at Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the photograph had reached 273,076 persons on Facebook alone with 278,602 impressions, out of which are 4,063 reactions, comments and shares, and a total of 6,394 clicks.

The Bonny Kingdom Boat Regatta, which maiden edition held in December, 2023, is an annual competition organized by Grafton Entertainment aimed at celebrating the Gigi (war canoe) which symbolizes the ebullient sailing culture of the Ibani (Bonny/Opobo) people, as well as the Niger Delta region.
