You Won’t Be Left Out – Rivers Governor, Fubara Assures Bonny People, LG Chairman, Others Clamour for Projects, Pledge Support at Thanksgiving Service

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has assured the people of Bonny Local Government Area that they will not be left out in the spree of development projects that is spreading across the State.

Fubara gave this assurance on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at a Thanksgiving Service for his successful governorship election and victory at the Supreme Court, which was organized by the Simplified Movement, Bonny Chapter, in Bonny, Rivers State.

Represented by the member representing Okrika/Ogu/Bolo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Allison Anderson, PhD, the Governor noted that Bonny people will have many reasons to be thankful to God at the end of his tenure.

He clarified that the political climate in the State will not distract him from discharging his duties for the good of all, while thanking Bonny people for the massive turnout and solidarity in his honour.

A former member of the State House of Assembly representing Ogu/Bolo Constituency, Evans Bipi raised concerns over the lack of state projects in Bonny for over 10 years despite the high volume of revenue it contributes to the State Government.

He commended Bonny people for the bold step of taking their destiny in their hands by identifying with Governor Fubara who is favourably disposed to change the sordid narrative for good.

In her remarks at the event, the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Anengi Claude-Wilcox decried the neglect that Bonny LGA suffered over the years, soliciting for the LGA to be remembered this time, just as she reiterated the position of Bonny to stand in the path of peace which Governor Fubara embodies, praying for his protection by God.

In their various speeches at the event, the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Bonny Constituency; Victor Oko-Jumbo, Opobo/Nkoro; Adolphus Oruibienimigha, and Ahoada/West; Sokari Goodboy, Commissioners for Sports, Christopher Green, and Urban Development; Isaac Umejuru, Managing Directors of the Rivers State Signage and Advertising Agency; Aye Pepple, and Rivers State Micro Finance Agency; Jonathan Tobin, a former member of the House of Representatives representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency; Randolph Brown, elder statesman, Eze Sir Mike Elechi, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs; Toru Ofili, and a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Bonny LGA, Adonye WIlcox, all expressed satisfaction in the collective resolve of Bonny people to stand with Governor Fubara.

The Thanksgiving Service which featured songs of praise, prayers and exhortation by Pastor Golden Dublin-Green was marked by a beautiful parade of participants including the Bonny Kingdom Titled Citizens Assembly, the Bonny Gentlemen’s League, Bonny Women Forum, Bonny Market Women Group, Clergymen, and non-indigenous groups, amongst several others.
