2019 Governorship Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Biokpomabo Awara says Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike lacks a clear-cut strategy in the fight against the dreaded covid-19 pandemic, currently ravaging the globe.
Awara, in a statement on …… questioned the rationale behind Wike’s demolition of business concerns all in the name of fighting an imaginary enemy perceived to be COVID-19 in parts of the state, as well as, his imposition of curfew resulting to untold hardship on the masses.
He maintained that the demolition of those hotel buildings in Eleme Local Government Area were not necessary, adding that Wike should have converted the properties into isolation centres instead of outright demolition, thereby, increasing the number of unemployed people in the state.
He urged the Governor to do a peer review of strategies deployed by his brother governors across the federation on how best they have tackled the COVID-19 pandemic without causing the citizens more pain, adding that the deployment of a macho style approach on Rivers people in the course of fighting the global COVID-19 pandemic that is ravaging the country is totally unacceptable by all men of good conscience.
Reacting to the unnecessary ongoing 24-hour curfew, the AAC guber candidate said even President Muhammadu Buhari, during a nationwide broadcast, relaxed the lockdown nationwide but wondered why the people of Rivers State will be left alone to face untold hardship.
He urged Governor Wike to focus more on administering good governance to the people and stop projecting Rivers State in bad light before the world.
