The re-election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has been described as the voice of Rivers people speaking through their votes and expressing their desire as to who they want to lead them into a new era of prosperity and progress.
This was the view of the lawmaker representing Degema/Bonny federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Randolph Brown when he spoke with Kristina Reports.
He hailed the declaration of Wike as the winner of the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday.
Wike, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated his closest rival and candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Biokpomabo Awara, who polled 173,859 votes, with 886,264 votes.
“It is clear that the people have spoken with their votes and that must be respected. His re-election is clearly the voice of Rivers people speaking through their votes”.
The lawmaker called on the Governor to view his re-election as a call to higher duty, noting that “he has done well and that has earned him the votes but he has to see his second term as a call to higher duty and do more”.
“Rivers State still has a lot of work to be done to get it to where it should be and this is the time for all well-meaning Rivers people to come together and support him to achieve the needed development that we all crave for”.
Brown enjoined the AAC candidate, Biokpomabo Awara, and other governorship candidates to join forces with WIke to move the State forward, stressing that “this is not the time to fight or dissipate resources in pursuing needless litigations but to mass up our intellect and everything else to make our State to work”.
