Wike should be ashamed to campaign in Bonny – APC Chieftain

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has been flayed for going to campaign in Bonny Local Government Area given his telling neglect of the area in his four years in office.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and leader of a sociopolitical pressure group, the Progressives Associates, Adaobu Blue-Jack condemned Wike’s visit to Bonny scheduled for Monday, January 28, 2019.

The Governor would be visiting Bonny LGA to flag-off the campaign of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 general elections.

It would be his first visit to Bonny in four years. The last time he was in the island was in 2015 when he came for campaigns.

He failed to honour the 20th coronation anniversary of the Amanyanabo of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Pepple III, Perekule XI.

He also refused to attend the flag-off of the Bonny-Bodo road project in November 2017 by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo. His administration’s officials, ostensibly acting on his directive, even refused the use of any government school in Bonny LGA for the event.

Speaking at a meeting of the Progressives Associates, Blue-Jack berated Wike for having the temerity to visit Bonny to campaign after denying the area the dividends of democracy for an appalling four years.

“Even the Bonny National Grammar School remodeling project has been abandoned, the money has been shared by his men in Bonny.”

“Wike has no business coming to campaign in Bonny. He has neglected the LGA for four years, without anything to show for it. He should be ashamed to come to Bonny to campaign”.

Aside the abject dearth of government projects in Bonny LGA, Wike has been accused of allegedly masterminding the denial of the House of Representatives ticket of his party to the current occupant of the seat, Randolph Brown.

Unconfirmed reports have it that Wike preferred the lawmaker currently representing Degema constituency in the State House of Assembly, Farah Dagogo to Brown given the voting strength of Degema LGA, which was said to be higher than that of Bonny LGA.

This decision caused an uproar in Bonny LGA with members of the PDP threatening to vote the APC candidate, Fubara Hart, should Randolph Brown not be on the ballot.

Kristina Reports reliably learnt that some high ranking chieftains of the PDP in Bonny LGA were allegedly “settled” with mouthwatering inducements after they agreed to the arrangement to drop Brown.

Sarah, a trader at the Bonny main market, told Kristina Reports that Bonny people currently resent Wike.

“We don’t want him here. What has he done for us in his four years as Governor? He is not welcome in Bonny, we don’t want him here.”
