“A topical poor man no know the meaning of cyber security levy. How much they done take time to educate the masses say see wetin we wan do and see the effect.”

These were the exact words of Nnodim Great, a businessman in port Harcourt when he spoke to Kristina reports on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Nnodim Great

Great told Kristina reports that the policy is not reasonable as the masses who are at the receiving end and have to suffer the repercussions of such policies.

“For you to have a policy of that magnitude, there’s what we call citizens’ education in such that it makes them understand why this is going on.”

Great also added that there are other levies that the masses are paying for, hence there’s no need for this policy since the effect cannot be reckoned with

“Them dey collect stamp duty, then dey collect SMS charge, them dey collect account maintenance, then dey collect card maintenance and it’s still not enough”

Speaking also, a source who pleaded anonymity described the policy as “uncalled for” adding that the authorities have so far not been accountable for all the levies imposed on the masses.

“If them collect am, wetin dem wan take am do, all this na rubbish. The stamp wey them collect the last time, no be Emefiele collect all of them. Na so the country unless, so we just dey manage am like that”
