Some secondary students in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State have raised alarm over the deplorable situation of electricity supply in the area.

In a chat with Kristina Reports on Monday, March 18, 2024, Princewill Richman, a student of Excel Comprehensive College said that the situation is very despicable as it has made living condition unbearable.

“We have been suffering with light, they don’t even want to tell us what is wrong. Every day, we wear rumpled uniforms to school, we don’t even have light to iron our uniforms”

Another student, Sani Ishaq said it’s been months since they had to put up with the distressing situation, saying “it’s really appalling”.

“We have been complaining about light and in the last few years, we could say they tried but right now, for over how many months, no light, not even a flash of light to give us hope. It’s really bad and they are not even doing anything about it”

Another resident of the area, who pleaded anonymity, asserted that his conclusion is that the leaders are rather ambassadors of bad government.

“Our leaders are wicked and unconcerned, how can we be suffering for light and they are hosting chairman Cup. It’s very senseless. The money they will use to solve problems; they are using it for frivolities”

Comfort Philip related to Kristina reports that the lighting situation is bad and unbearable and craved the indulgence of the leaders to look into the plight and arrest the situation.

“We need light for so many things, we need light to pump water because fuel is skyrocketing daily, we need light to cook, we need light to iron our clothes. It’s really unbearable. We are pleading with our leaders to come to our aid.”
