As the controversy over the emergence of a chief-elect in the Buoye Omuso (Brown) House in Finima, Bonny Local Government Area rages, the leadership of the chieftaincy house has come out to state the true position.

Chairman of the Buoye Omuso (Brown) House Asawo, Tammy Brown dismissed the issue as mere rumours being peddled by misguided elements in Finima Community.

Brown came out with this position in response to an enquiry from Kristina Reports on the veracity of the claims in some quarters that the chieftaincy house has elected a new chief and was in the process of capping him in line with Bonny tradition.

“I am not sure of where you got your information but the simple truth is that the Buoye Omuso (Brown) Major Duawari House of Finima Town has not gotten a chief-elect yet. Of course, if we do, the world will know.”

“Unless you are referring to a recent rumour in town that one Mr. Evans Brown and his mischievous friends came out and paraded that they now have a chief-elect. As an Ibani man you should know the process for electing a Chief in Ibani customs and traditions.”

He explained that the Brown House has a clearly outlined process in its constitution which details how a chief will emerge, urging those who are ignorant of the process to refer to the house constitution for clarity.

“Very fortunately, in Buoye Omuso Brown Major Duawari House of Finima Town, which is one of the biggest houses in Bonny, we even have a process in our house constitution that clearly explains the process of having a Chief in Brown House.”

“So, it is really funny to sit down to even think of it. So, if anyone is confused. They should please refer to the Brown House constitution.”

“I guess this can confirm to you that we don’t have a chief-elect since after the deaths of our late Chiefs: Chief I. A. Idamiebi Brown and late Chief Yibo Buowari Brown.”

Reacting to insinuations that the purported chief-elect of Brown House, Evans Brown was not a bonafide member of the Brown House, Tammy Brown, who is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and Chartered Institute of Human Resources Management (CIHRM), among other professional bodies, stated that though he was not a chief-elect, Evans Brown was a bonafide member of the Brown House.

“Well, I am fully aware that Mr. Evans Brown is a bonafide member of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major Duawari House of Finima Town. But it’s quite unfortunate that he is being pushed and misled by some mischievous enemies of the Buoye Omuso Brown Major Duawari House.”

“I pray that he realizes early and retraces his steps and return to apologize to the house and continue to leave peacefully as a bonafide member of the Brown House.”
