TNP Eastern Corridor Records Stable Month as Emohua Reports Zero Vandalism
The Eastern corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline, TNP, and the Eastern Gas Network operated largely without interruption in July, with the Emohua zone recording zero cases of vandalism or infraction for the month.
The update was given on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at the August 2026 Stakeholders Engagement Forum in Port Harcourt, convened by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited, PINL, the company managing security and operations for the Eastern corridor of the TNP.
General Manager, Community and Stakeholder Relations at PINL, Dr. Akpos Mezeh, said there were isolated cases of sabotage, attempted vandalism and equipment failure during the period. He noted that rapid response teams restored affected facilities, while security agencies arrested suspects linked to some of the incidents.
Head of Field Operations, Eastern Corridor, at the NNPC Limited Project Monitoring Office, Akponime Omojevwhe, confirmed Emohua’s clean record and commended the community. He urged host communities to sustain the partnership, saying stable national infrastructure directly translates to national revenue.
The forum held weeks after ECOWAS Heads of State signed the Intergovernmental Agreement for the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline, a proposed 6,900-kilometre line from Nigeria to Morocco through 13 West African coastal countries.
NNPC Limited also reported a ₦535 billion profit after tax for June 2026. The company said it has secured over $20 billion in gas sale and purchase agreements in the past year, covering 1.29 billion standard cubic feet per day for long-term LNG feed gas and another 750 million standard cubic feet per day for domestic industrial supply.
Other projects nearing completion include the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben and Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipelines, while the ANOH Gas Processing Plant has been commissioned.
Dr. Mezeh said investments of that scale depend on uninterrupted pipeline operations, and credited collaboration with host communities, traditional rulers and security agencies for the corridor’s relative stability.
His Majesty, Ohna Seargent Awuse, Paramount Ruler of Emohua Kingdom, praised PINL’s engagement model.
“Before now, we only hear stories of vandalism. But you have ensured safety of those pipelines,” he said.
PINL also announced that its scholarship scheme for students from host communities will run annually for the duration of its Federal Government contract. The company said it will also expand youth and women empowerment, entrepreneurship and skills acquisition programmes in host communities.
