Tinubu Renews Tenure of NTA, NAN Chiefs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the tenure of the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, Abdulhamid Dembos, and the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Ali Mohammed Ali, for another three years.

The renewal was announced in a statement issued on Sunday August 23, 2026 by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

The Presidency said the renewed tenure of the two media executives will take effect from October 20, 2026.
President Tinubu had first appointed Dembos as NTA Director-General and Ali as NAN Managing Director on October 20, 2023.

Dembos, a native of Yola, Adamawa State, is a veteran broadcaster and former National President of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Art Workers Union, RATTAWU.

He joined the NTA as an announcer at its Kaduna station in 1989 and rose through the ranks, serving as General Manager of NTA Lokoja and NTA Kano, among other positions. He retired in 2017 as Acting Zonal Director of the NTA Kaduna Network Centre and later served as Executive Director of Marketing.

On his part, Ali Mohammed is a veteran journalist and media manager with more than 30 years of experience.
He holds a degree in English from Bayero University, Kano, a graduate degree in International Affairs from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Mass Communications from Bayero University.

President Tinubu urged the two chief executives to justify the confidence reposed in them by sustaining their commitment to the mandates of their respective organisations and supporting the promotion of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
