Community Affairs and Security (CAS) Manager of DECN, Anderson Jaja said this on Saturday, November 18, 2023 during the handover of the tent to the Finima Development Committee (FDC) in Finima, Bonny LGA, Rivers State.
The tent, which Project Sponsor is Lee Won Kil, was presented to the FDC Chairman, Sonny Jack-Brown by the Senior Community Affairs and Security (CAS) Manager, I. S. Seo.
Also present were the Public Relations Officer JV; Bernard Ewbare, Public Relations Officer, DECN; Robinson Emmanuel, Community Affairs Officer, Pepple Susan, Office Support; Edward Jetta-Hart, and Material Handler, Ala Hart, present.

“Yes, we are looking at ways Daewoo can support the community in any way. So, this is just a token to prove our presence on Train 7 project in Bonny.”
“We don’t need to talk about how far; it’s more than beyond words. The peace the company is enjoying in this community, in this kingdom is wonderful. We appreciate it; we can only say the best is yet to come from SCD JV.”
Responding, Chairman of Finima Development Committee, Sonny Jack-Brown expressed delight over the donation and thanking Daewoo E&C for it, noting that the company had sustain a posture of fulfilling its promises since it came to donate school items to children at the Community Primary School, Finima.
“It’s a continuation of their last donation to the community primary schools where they donated some study materials like books and pen, as well as football jerseys. They promised that they will come back to make more donation one of which is the just donated canopy to the community.
“So, they have come back and are now here to fulfill part of their promises, amongst others like they did but all cannot come same time but they will be coming in bits.
“It’s practical fulfillment of promises made in the sense that they came the first time they promised they were going to come again and now they are here to do what they promised. So, I see it as goodwill and a good gesture in the right direction.”
He, however, pointed out that there was the need for needs assessment to ascertain what actually the community needs so that interventions such as this would be best appreciate and align with the strategy development trajectory of the community, urging other companies to emulate the noble gesture of Daewoo E&C.
Also speaking, Chairman of Finima Youth Congress, Shedrack Brown said the gesture by DECN was well appreciated, observing that the company has continued to deploy its CSR initiatives to the benefit of the community, asserting, however, that the DECN should also contemplate initiatives that have direct impact on the youths.
“Basically, I must establish the fact that there is no donation that is not usually appreciated no matter how small it is, it should be first appreciated.”
Prior to this time there was donation that was made of writing materials to the Community Primary School. Then there was also a promise made that they are going to come back and make a donation. So, if they have come in fulfilment of the promise they made prior to this time, indeed, they made the fulfilment of that promise then they should be commended.”
“In addition, there are also clearly things we need to state. We are looking forward to donations or projects that will have a direct impact on us as youths. We are expecting that Daewoo should partner with us to have our youths trained in the current phase of the job.
