Take Ownership of Finima Development – Kongo XVII Urges Kinsmen, Stakeholders

The people of Finima Community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State have been called upon to take ownership of the development of the community and contribute their quota to initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people.

Aseme-Alabo Dagogo Lambert Brown made this call on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Finima during his formal installation as the Chief and Head of Buoye Omuso Brown Major House of Bonny Kingdom and Amadabo of Finima, Kongo XVII.

“As owners of Finima lands and landlord to all the multination outfits on the island, it is therefore incumbent on us that we take ownership of Finima development matters, including the much-heralded local content issue of “Finima NLNG Host Community” matter.”

He announced that two development institutions, the Finima Development Committee and Finima Capacity Development Committee, would be strengthened to drive the community’s development initiatives, disclosing that his policy direction is etched on the “Simini Famam Finima” (poverty has ended in Finima) vision, asserting that the community had no business with poverty given the presence of several giant hydrocarbon industries in Finima.

At the ceremony which had in attendance a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Randolph Brown, Kongo XVII called on both indigenes and residents of the area to connect to the development vision of the community, stressing that “all hands are therefore expected to be on deck for the realization of this vision”.

Se-Alabo Bristol-Alagbariya asserted that Bonny Kingdom is one family emanating from one father, calling on the people of Finima and Bonny Kingdom to seek peace and unity as the way forward for coalescing the development potentials of the area, stressing that the installation of Kongo XVII was the handiwork of God Almighty.

The Chairman of the Asawo of Buoye Omuso Brown House, Tammy Brown congratulated the new Chief and Head of the House, expressing the confidence that his reign on the stool would signpost progress and development for Finima and Bonny as a whole, assuring that the youths of the community would avail him the needed support to achieve set objectives.

Offering his prayers for the newly installed Chief and Head of the Buoye Omuso Brown House, Senior Pastor of Hilltop International Christian Centre (HICC), Reverend Christopher Oarhe, praised God for the success of the ceremony, announcing that the emergence of Se-Alabo Lambert Brown, who he informed was a pastor in his church, was the cue for the unleashing of God’s blessings on the community.

The Chairman-elect of the Asawo of Buoye Omuso Brown House, Ibiwari Brown asserted that the installation ceremony represents a new vista of hope for the community, calling on the multinationals operating in Finima to identify with the new leadership, assuring that the new Amadabo would bring his wealth of experience to bear in addressing issues related to the host community status being clamoured for by the community.

    Congratulations, to the new Amadabo, I just hope this is legit in line with Bonny culture, and will translate to peace and stability for the people of Finima and Bonny community.
