The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Rivers State has adjured Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu to call his appointee, the Minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Nyesom Wike to order over his alleged sponsorship of political crisis in Rivers State.

IPAC gave this call in a press statement signed by its State Chairman, Solsuema Osaro.

It condemned in strong terms the recent protest by the pro-Wike former lawmakers led by Martins Amaewhule, former local government chairmen, describing it as an attempt to undermine the authority of the elected Governor of Rivers State,

“The protest is a reckless and futile attempt to subvert the rule of law and undermine the authority of the duly elected governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara…”

Recall that on Tuesday, June 27, 2024, some loyalists of the FCT Minister embarked on a protest that led to the detonation of a device suspected to be dynamite around the Hotel Presidential axis of Port Harcourt.

IPAC in its statement said those responsible must be held accountable.

“The protest has already led to a near loss of life, with one protester seriously wounded in the explosion of suspected dynamite in Port Harcourt on Tuesday. This senseless violence and destructive tendencies must stop and those responsible must be held accountable…”

IPAC cautioned loyalists of the FCT minister to stop instigating political crisis in the state noting that Siminalayi Fubara is the governor and there can be no two governors in the state,

“We caution those loyal to the FCT minister to stop instigating political crisis in Rivers State, as there can be no two governors…”

“His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara is the governor of Rivers State and all citizens of Rivers State must be subject to his authority. We urge all stakeholders to respect the rule of law and the democratic process…”

IPAC stated that Rivers People deserve peace and stability even as it called on the Rivers State police command not to leave any stone unturned in ensuring that perpetrators are brought to book.

Whilst expressing its commitment to deepening democracy assured that it will work towards a peaceful and prosperous State.
