President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the various security agencies in the country to put a stop to the inflow of illegal arms into the country.
He gave the order on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the regular security meeting of service chiefs with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with the President.
According to him, he told newsmen that the President was delighted with the efforts the security agencies are making in tackling the security challenges in the country.
He added that the President has urged all security agencies to beef up their efforts to stop the inflow of illegal arms into the country.
He said, “…basically, the meeting was to further reappraise the actions taken after the last meeting; you all recall too, the spate of insecurity particularly armed banditry, kidnapping and robbery have been specifically on the increase in some parts of the country.
The briefings were to effect that we had better responses from the military and security agencies in those areas that we have earlier mentioned; this is particularly because of the improved synergy among the various agencies that are providing information and intelligence.
He affirmed that all hands are on deck for a hitch free inauguration on May 29 in Abuja by the committee that was set up.
