Secondary Schools Choral Competition Holds Monday, Organizers Promise Positive Impact

The Bonny Kingdom Chorale has announced that its long awaited 2023 Bonny Secondary Schools Choral Competition would be a fantastic event with positive impact on the participants.

Founder and Musical Director of the Bonny Kingdom Chorale, organizers of the competition, Edward William-Jumbo told Kristina Reports on Friday, December 8, 2023 in Bonny, Rivers State that the competition is focused on catching young people and unraveling their inherent talents.

William-Jumbo, who is also the Choirmaster of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Bonny, and Music Director of the King Perekule Royal Ensemble, Bonny, stated that theme for this year’s edition is “Catching Them Young and Harnessing the Raw Talent”.

He further said that “the Bonny Kingdom Chorale chose to make a positive impact in the lives of musically talented youths of Bonny Kingdom mostly in our secondary schools”.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS: Lucille International School won the 2022 edition of the Bonny Secondary Schools Chorale Competition.

He disclosed that the competition would hold at the Ibani-Se Hall, Akiama, Bonny by 10am on Monday, December 11, 2023, and would feature traditional music, music folklore, set pieces, solo pieces and general renditions.

The Music maestro, who is a member of the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), London, explained that “the idea is to catch them young and groom them to achieve their potentials as well as affect society positively”. 

He expressed his appreciation to the headline sponsors of the competition namely Shell Nigeria, Evomec Global Services Limited, and DavFub Nigeria Limited, and sponsors; Bonny Local Government, Ijaw Youth Council, Bonny Youth Federation and Finima Youth Congress, amongst others.
