Bonny Atlas, organizers of the Bonny Island Sand Soccer Tournament 2021, says producing global football stars and boosting Tourism in Bonny Local Government Area, Rivers State and Nigeria remains the core vision of the tournament.

The organization, which disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Victor Segun Henry, and made exclusively available to Kristina Reports, one of the Official Media Partners of the tournament, informed that the second edition will hold on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

According to the statement, the tournament “promises to attract a significant amount of traffic into Bonny Island,” stressing that it is “to showcase our enormous Sport Tourism potential in Bonny Island, the Bonny Island Sand Soccer Tournament is an event that will change the narrative in Bonny Island as regards Sports Tourism and will drive a significant amount of traffic into the island in years to come…”

The organization announced that the tournament, which is “a pet project of Bonny Atlas, one of the outstanding Social Enterprise which has in the past four years of its existence offered positive solutions to challenges as faced in our environment, has proven to be not just football, but a significant contributor to the development of the Island with youth as a major target”.

Bonny Atlas further announced that the winner of the 2021 edition of the Bonny Island Sand Soccer which has free registration for intending team players, would go home with a whopping prize of three hundred thousand Naira, among other prizes. 

Speaking, Team Lead of Bonny Atlas, Rossphilips Irims stated that “the vision is to see these guys picking much interest, either they are entering back into major football because of the level the tournament might be growing or into the National Sand Soccer Team and other sand soccer clubs around the world”.

Also speaking on the tournament, John Victory, who was the best player and highest goal scorer of the maiden edition, affirmed the tremendous impact of the tournament, in his words, “I think it’s been very impressive… this is the first time we are seeing something like this, I am impressed”.

“With the potential to expand the economy of Bonny Island, the Tournament has widened its partnership with different organizations and business entities such as Nigeria LNG Limited (Sponsor), GOGE Africa and Kristina Reports (Official Media Partners), with support from FBI Photography, Bonny Island Tourism Hub (BITH) Moon Rentals, EL Stylish, Café 21, Bonny Aproko and endorsement from the Office of Bonny Constituency, Rivers State House of Assembly,” the statement said.
