The Registrar of the university, Dr. Sydney Enyindah, announced the suspension of other activities marking the students week in an internal memo dated 7th September, 2023.

Following the unfortunate and sad incident which occurred during the ‘Jeans Carnival’ on Tuesday 5th September, 2023, resulting in the death of a student, the Management of the University has directed the immediate suspension of the remaining activities of the Student Union Week.

“Consequently, the acting Chief Security Officer is hereby directed to ensure that all University students comply with this directive forthwith.”

Eyewitnesses, who were present at the time of the incident, told Kristina Reports, though anonymously, that the student was hanging on the window of a car involved in a stunt during the Jean Carnival on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from where he fell off and became unconscious.

In a video, which surfaced on some students’ status on WhatsApp messaging application, the boy was seen lying lifeless before some students carried him up.

Another source inside the university community, said that the student, who was allegedly sitting on the window of a moving vehicle when he lost balance and fell during the jean carnival, was rushed to the hospital, where he eventually died today.
