Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara Commissions Legacy Projects in Bonny, Says Supporting Government Inspires Development

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara says the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State should be supported to sustain the trajectory of delivery of governance and democratic dividends.

Fubara said this on Friday, February 2, 2024 during the commissioning of the Ajealamonigha Bridge in Finima Community, the reconstructed New Jerusalem Road, the FSP Women Craft Development Center and the Senior Civil Servants Mini Housing Estate which were all projects embarked on by the Dame Claude-Wilcox led administration.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Dr Itong Awani, the Governor pointed out that the many projects on ground were testaments that Bonny people were in safe hands and that continuity would not be farfetched with such impact in display.

He sued for the infrastructures to be well maintained while calling on the people of Bonny to be supportive of the State and Local Governments towards inspiring more good and development in the land.

Earlier in her remark, the Chairman of Bonny LGA, Dame Anengi Claude-Wilcox explained that the results being celebrated were borne out of the pitiable state she met the LGA and the need to drive Bonny to its rightful place of glory.

She stated that apart from the current projects being commissioned, which were part of the fourth phase of impact-driven projects by her administration, more were still in the ‘cooler’, assuring that with God on her side, all will be executed soon for the good of the land.

In his remarks, the lawmaker representing Bonny Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Victor Oko-Jumbo noted that Bonny had never had it this good, extolling the Bonny LGA Chairman for her ambitious development strides.  

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bonny LGA Chapter, Daniel Wilcox-Buruwi said the PARTY was proud of the LGA Chairman’s performance, urging her to do more.  

The Secretary of Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), Se-Alabo Charles John-Jumbo, who spoke on behalf of the Chiefs, said Dame Claude-Wilcox has exceeded their expectations with regards to governance and performance.

Highpoint of the day-long ceremony was the presentation of a congratulatory award to Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his Supreme Court victory, an award of service to a former Commanding Officer of the Nigerian Navy Forward Operating Base (NNFOB), Bonny, Commodore Rafiu Oladejo, who inspired the construction of the Ajealamonigha Bridge in Finima, which was received on his behalf by the incumbent Commanding Officer of the NNFOB, Commodore Reginald Adoki.

The Bonny LGA Chairman also led her guests on an inspection of the various projects being commissioned and later took the kick-off for a novelty football match by White House Sports Club to launch the Spectators’ Stand.

The ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities like the Commissioner for Youths Development; Dr Chisom Gbali, the lawmaker representing Opobo/Nkoro Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly; Adolphus Orubienimigha, the Chairman, Bonny Chiefs Council; Se-Alabo Dagogo Claude-Wilcox, titled citizens of Bonny Kingdom, heads of security agencies, captains of industry, and political support groups, amongst others.
