Traders in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State have confirmed the crash in the price of Popular rice brand known as ‘mango rice’.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Kristina Reports gathered from Charity Ibiang, a market woman at the popular ‘Caro market’ in Okrika, that the price of rice bag has dropped and affordable.

“Before we bin dey buy mango rice 160 k, but now e don come down to 87k. We still dey look because as e dey, e fit still dey drop, but we thank God”

Kristina Reports also gathered that there are variations in the current Prices as a supplier of rice, popular known as Kinsco confirmed that prices are drastically reducing.

“The prices are different, Red Eagle is now 80k per bag, Big bull is now 80k and Mango Rice 86k”

The respondent confirmed that the widely consumed rice is the mango rice which is now sold for five hundred naira per cup, adding that it should be reduced to make it affordable.

At the flip side of the coin, some food vendors are still not ready to accept the price as they believe that it will still be inflated and they would be on the losing side.

A renowned food vendor, known as mama Uchechi told Kristina Reports that this trick has been on and people have always seen them as cheats and so they will not accept the price for now.

“I still dey sell rice N500 because I never still accept am, na so dem do the last time, when we con finally reduce the price and increase the quantity, e shoot up again, our customers con dey look us like say we wan cheat them, so I no dey follow dem talk.”
