JUMBO MAJOR HOUSE OF GRAND BONNY KINGDOM
The attention of the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny Kingdom in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State has been drawn to the incessant and reckless trespasses, scavenging, surreptitious parcellations, survey and unauthorized sales of its lands and malicious damage to the family’s properties, in its communities, villages and territories ,within the Bonny LGA of Rivers State, particularly in Bonny Town by unauthorized persons who are falsely posturing and parading as chief, cabinet, representatives and or agents of the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny kingdom on its land matters.
The general public is hereby notified as follows:
That the Jumbo Major House owns all the swathes of lands, swamps and forest areas, specifically known and referred to as Obiachor, Obiochoro, which situates, and stretches continuously and contiguously from its Akatikpo Park Community through Ayambo, Ntamokwu, Ayambo land extension in which situates the Nigeria LNG limited water wells, one to twelve facilities, and access roads, Jumbo Abalamabie, Bagg and Ukwumbi I and II communities, all of the Jumbo Major House down to the shores of their Atlantic Oceans including oil areas which situates the Right of Ways of the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited 48” offshore loading trunkline, new 48” offshore loading trunkline, 30” South Forcados-Bonny Terminal trunkline, 32” water disposal pipeline, 16” Eastern Coastline trunkline, ECTL, the Airstrip facility and complex, Workers Camp, all the areas along the Bonny Airport Road, otherwise known as New Road, the Bonny Town segment of the Bodo-Bonny Road now under construction, including all areas it traverses through the Bagg, Egelebie, Ukwumbi, and Jumbo Oputumbi communities.
KEY LANDMARKS: Top to Down: The Bonny Consulate, Bodo-Bonny Road, Bonny Roundabout and New Road where The Promise Restaurant is located are all on Jumbo Major House lands.
That the Jumbo Major House also owns a large expanse or portion of Ogugumanga land otherwise known as the Coconut Estate in Bonny, wherein, it has a boundary with the Oguede Community of the Jack Manilla Pepple House.
That the said Ntamokwu Ayambo land extension was the subject matter of a long tortuous litigation battle at the High Court of Rivers State in Port Harcourt in suit number: PHC/949/1998 between Warisenibo Henderson E. S. Jumbo and four others as Claimants for themselves and as representing the Jumbo Major House versus Sunny Finapiri Banigo and four others, wherein the said Sunny Finapiri Banigo, Chief Captain R.F.P. Hart, Chief Y.S. Tobin, Chief N.Y.I. Allaputa, and Chief G.T.G. Benstowe were for themselves and as representing the Amanyanabo-in-Council. The High Court in its judgment delivered on the 18th day of March, 2021 by Honourable Justice I. Wordi, declared and ordered amongst others as follows:
It is hereby declared that the Claimants are the owners, possessors and holders of the statutory rights of occupancy over all piece and parcel of lands called Ntamokwu Ayambo land extension of Bonny which forms part of the Jumbo Major House lands on Bonny.
An order, annulling all transactions, sales, assignments, leases, etc., done by the defendants in respect of the land aforesaid without the knowledge, consent or authority of the Claimants.
That, in line with the Ibani/Bonny native laws, customary practices and traditional house systems of the administration and governance of chieftaincy houses in the Grand Bonny Kingdom and as applicable to a practiced by the Jumbo Major House and in consonance with the still subsisting 1971 Constitution and Regulations of the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny, particularly at Section 15 of the same, clearly states that the power to allocate Jumbo Major House lands in Bonny to House members is vested in the chiefs and elders of the House only with the understanding that such a land when so allocated to House members should not be transferred to non-members of the House.
That by a subsisting judgment of the Customary Court of Rivers State in Bonny Customary Division delivered on Tuesday, 5th day of June, 2014, in suit number: CCB/7/2010 between Sir Amasenibo B.J. Jumbo and seven others versus Warisenibo Clinton J. Beresiri and two others, the Honourable Court held that the now erstwhile and former Chief Horace Ferdinand Herbert Oko-Jumbo, and the second set of defendants in the suit have no powers whatsoever and cannot under the still subsisting 1971 Constitution and Regulations of the Jumbo Major House, the Ibani/Bonny native laws and customary practices, as well as the customary laws within the Ijo nation, validly alienate any part or parcel of the Jumbo Major House lands and properties in Bonny Town and any of its communities and villages in the Bonny LGA including the Jumbo Ishileogono Community land to anybody whatsoever or to the Beresiri Chieftaincy House without the consent or authority and approval of the elders of the House and that any such transaction is null, void and of no effect whatsoever.
Therefore, following from the above, the Chief of the Jumbo Major House does not have the powers to unilaterally allocate, allot, sell, alienate, convey, assign, lease or grant in whatsoever form or style any part or parcel of the land and properties of Jumbo Major House to anybody howsoever named and or style without the consent or the authority and approval of the Council of Elders of the House.
That the Jumbo Major House had also published a Caveat Emptor center at page 23 of the Nation Newspaper of February 17th, 2021, and a Public Notice at page 10 of the Tide Newspaper of Friday, September 15th, 2023 informing and/or warning the general public that the Jumbo Major House of Grand Bonny Kingdom is not selling its lands and properties in Bonny Town or any of its aforementioned communities and settlements in the Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.
That the Jumbo Major House has not also since the pendency of the said suit number: PHC/949/1998 till date delegated or authorized any person or agent, or committee, or howsoever named or styled, to allocate, alienate, convey, grant, cede or sell any part or parcel of its lands, swamps and forest areas in any of its aforementioned communities and settlements to any person, company, organization, institution, chieftaincy house in Bonny, or howsoever named or styled.
That the general public is hereby forewarned not to buy, deal or carry out any form of transactions with fraudsters or land grabbers who are falsely parading or posturing as agents, representatives of the Jumbo Major House on land matters as any such transactions are ab initio null, void and of no consequence whatsoever.
