In a bid to deliver on its promise to protect the lives and properties of citizens, the Nigeria Police Force have foiled an attempt by kidnappers who tried to abduct some residents of El-Rufai Estate, Bwari, Abuja.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the FCT Command, Josephine Adeh disclosed that the incident happened on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
She stated that the armed kidnappers tried to enter the Estate at about 2am and attempted to kidnap some residents before some keensighted police operatives intercepted them.
This led to a gun battle between the policemen and the kidnappers which lasted about 30 minutes and resulted in the hurt of one of the residents who was caught in the crossfire.
The FCT PPRO further disclosed that several policemen who were involved in the gun battle sustained multiple injuries.
She thanked them for their dedication to ensuring the safety of citizens and assured Nigerians that the kidnappers would be brought to book.
“We received a distress call about an attack and we mobilized operatives who swiftly repelled the miscreants in a gun duel. Many of them escaped with gun wounds.”
“We are on the trail of the kidnappers, so we urge the general public to report anybody seen with a bullet wound to the police.”
Upon arriving at the scene of the incident at about 11am, Kristina Reports was unable to gain access into the estate as heavily armed security operatives were stationed outside.
The policemen explained to Kristina Reports that the residents were yet to recover from the incident and as such, interviews will not be allowed until a later date that will be made known to newsmen.
