Paul Onuachu ignites Trabzonspor miracle run with late goal fury in Turkish Cup
Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu continues to prove why he is one of the most dangerous strikers in Turkey’s top competitions.

The Nigerian forward delivered yet another match-winning performance, helping Trabzonspor secure a thrilling cup victory over Istanbul Basaksehir FK.
Onuachu’s Scoring Run Fires Trabzonspor’s Cup Run
Coming off the bench, he once again showed his knack for late-game brilliance.
Onuachu extended his scoring streak to eight consecutive matches. Introduced in the 65th minute, the striker needed less than 20 minutes to make an impact, netting the third goal in a wild six-goal contest.
Since returning from international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, he has been unstoppable.
He has contributed to 10 goals overall — scoring nine times and providing one assist. His season tally now stands at 22 goal contributions across league and cup competitions.
Late Drama Secures Win After Ten-Man Advantage
The match was full of momentum shifts. Trabzonspor opened the scoring early through Felipe Augusto in the 6th minute. However, Başakşehir FK fought back after halftime, equalising through Nuno Da Costa.

The game became even more intense as goals changed hands. Ivan Brnić gave the hosts the lead in the 76th minute, but Mustafa Eskihellac quickly restored balance.
The turning point came when Ousseynou Ba received a red card in the 81st minute, leaving Basaksehir with ten men.
Trabzonspor quickly exploited the numerical advantage. Onuachu struck in the 84th minute to push his team ahead before Ozan Tufan sealed the win moments later, sending Trabzonspor to 9 points after four group matches.
Another notable performer was Anthony Nwakaeme, who also contributed to Trabzonspor’s attacking rhythm.
The victory strengthens Trabzonspor’s campaign momentum in domestic cup competition, with Onuachu continuing to show why he is the most reliable finisher in the squad.
